I really enjoy working on photoshop, manipulating images, creating your own combinations and changing the origonal format of the photgraphs.

Drawings- PEN AND INK

I invested in some old nibs and a bottle of ink as I wanted to experiment using them as a medium for my drawings. I choose images from the Workshop and the of the Milking Parlour as my basis. I wanted to create a simple yet evoxative images in black and whitre.

LOMOGRAPHY PHOTOS

I love working with my Mini Diana Lomograpgy camera. The unpredictability of the shot excites me and also using double exposure to create ambiant evocative images. The observer can associate facets of their past with objects / imagery which they may have encountered, thereby conjuring up a unique experience for every viewer of these photographs..

A slight change in Path

The last 2 weeks in college have been the most productive for me. Its not that I have deviated from my original subject matter and concept completely but It took me a few weeks to realize that essentially I am basing my project on my Dad, his farm, his tractor and mainly his workshop. I suppose its a form of documentation but still capturing all my memories and an essence of the past. I was flaffing around trying to use different headings and terms to describe the project until I finally accepted that it was what it is now.
I have a few mini projects on the go- all connecting together under my main theme and subject matter. I am still working with his woodturning tools, having made the plaster cast

I am now creating 6 Resin casts.
I am currently in the process of editing a short film I made of Daddy in his workshop, I interviewed him in there and he gave me on lesson on how to use the lade. This will play a big part in my project as it is a record of what the workshop means to Dad and shows a father passing on his skill/knowledge to his daughter.
Inspired by the works of Jim Dine and his 'Tools' I am experimenting with Mono Screenprints using the turning tools as my primary image. Monoscreen Print is a really quick and effective procedure using water based paints, textile dyes to create a very painterly style screen print.

I am focusing very much on the object and on place in my imagery- I am creating a collection of black and white photographs using both my Canon 450D and my Diana Mini Lomography camera. The work of Amelia Stein and her memory photos influence my photography.

WOODTURNING TOOLS

For me my Dads workshop is a treasure throve of memory and a lot of the contents i.e his tools, the wood, old bits and bobs all stand as a symbol of the past and capture the essence of time passing.
His woodturning tools have made many creations. They were used to turn a mundane piece of wood into something of beauty.
I wanted to use his tools as the basis for a photography piece. I photographed them in situ in the workshop. I then took them out of context and made castings of them and moulds from which I then took black and white photographs. The resulting images had a warped molten looking appearance which for me charged and changed the tools into something completely different. They look like they are encased, frozen in time, wrapped around and suspended under a this blanket.
