Once I had my image transferred onto the MDF I carefully cut out the areas I wanted to keep white. This is a process I took my time with as I wanted to develop good mark making skills and create a woodblock that paid justice to my chosen image and evoked the essence of memory.
I initially inked the block in Black and White and the I played around with different colors using mono prints as backgrounds. I also created dip-tics and printed on different type papers. However, my personal preference was for the original black and white as I think the composition and cut speaks volumes and for me color distracts the eye from the actual image!!!!
